BMW - VW - 3rd Reich
Tonight on Arte, a fascinating program on Gunther Quandt, BMW owner and founder of the 1st German family by its assets (20 billion euros).
In summary, Gunther Quandt was the first producer of arms of the 3rd Reich using his ex-wife Magda Goebbels, who married on orders to take command, with the SS guards as concentration camps directly related to its battery factories for submarines and V2 among others.
Inexplicably, it will not be worried because in 1945 very discreet, while others less involved industrial end their days in prison.
I relate this surprising and shocking is the casualness with which the English had shown in 1945 to rename the new town next to the Volkswagen plant, named after a castle near Wolfsburg ignoring the fact that Wolf (Wolf German) was the nickname for the initiator of the project: Adolph Hitler.
It's pretty impressive to think that 2 of the best German companies present: VW and BMW have their success directly to the 3rd Reich and the thousands of deportees who have worked during the war and died there, and that no "de-Nazification.
In the story, Gunther Quandt talks about the prisoners as "spent" and must be replaced as soon as possible (at a rate of 80 deaths per month).
A member of the Quandt family said in reporting that it is time to forget the past. It is understood but not agreed, of course.
