The first President of the Court of Auditors, Didier Migaud - Socialist undisputed personality appointed by the President of the Republic has issued a report comparing the French and German tax systems.
Reading the 4 graphs published by the World tonight is instructive: the tax burden is higher in France than it is in Germany, itself above the European average. France's higher tax on labor and capital as Germany and less consumption.
If we want to converge the German and French tax systems, it is necessary that France will make an end of the road and thus decrease its rate of levy reducing expenditures, increasing the VAT and lowering taxes on labor and capital.
I'm sure, and I have expressed on this blog, that none of this will be done. Our politicians - supported in this by a large portion of our citizens simply wait and hope to make the miracle economy of courageous and painful measures.
The last politician in France who was able to hold this speech was Raymond Barre, who found - after the electoral defeat predictable - refuge in this beautiful city of Lyon.

government on the TFR is even more pathetic that moves us away once again the real issues, but it is true that our politicians have a habit for some diversion.
Libya Western countries are apparently much embarrassed, and China is beginning to show serious signs of nervousness. In these circumstances, an agreement on a UN military intervention - or at least an embargo on air space - seems unlikely. Which shows the difference between aging despots and cut off from their base and a true dictator. Finally Saddam Hussein has been the exception that proves the rule: Cuba, North Korea, Burma: the top three most ferocious dictatorships in the world still has a bright future ahead of him.
As for China, a country where a twitter too sends you to the reeducation camp across the country without even a trial, Gulp! And it depends on them for the release of Libya. One can always dream. Phew, I'm in France (and do not intend to set foot in China anytime soon).
